After the inaugural G.G Festival in 2019, the committee took steps to go digital during the pandemic but G.G Festival goers will be able to meet face to face, at Glive, once again on 10th February 2023!
When the Guildford.Games Committee first embarked on their Guildford focused initiatives, one of their main aims was to connect the developers working at the many game development studios in and around the Surrey town. They did this by organising networking events open to all Guildford devs, which included the first G.G Festival.
With the pandemic behind them, the G.G Committee are very excited to be returning to Glive in 2023 for the Guildford.Games Festival! The event - will feature everything Festival goers enjoyed in 2019 and more - with panels and industry deep dives with some of the most talented and decorated developers in games, games to play, developers to meet and a CV/Portfolio review space for those looking to start a career in the games industry.
The first Festival was held at Glive in 2019. It was a two day event - day one had business focus, whilst day two was open to the public - for students and gamers. The ‘open’ day featured a number of talks from Guildford developers and beyond. Most notably was Guildford Game Dev Royalty - Peter Molyneux, who gave a detailed talk on Guildford’s games history.
Both school children and older students were invited to come and meet the creators of some of their favourite titles at the Festival, and were given the chance to get hands on with current game development projects from local studios. Festival goers were also welcomed to get hands on with VR games from Farnborough studio nDreams.
Next year, the Festival comes back bigger and better and our sponsors include ID@Azure/Microsoft, nDreams, Glowmade, Soundcuts and so many more - and you can expect to hear from developers who work at many of our sponsor studios.
