The Quiet Things is an auto-biographical, narrative game based on real diary entries kept by the studio’s founder and BAFTA Breakthrough, Alyx Jones.
In this emotionally charged first-person narrative, players are invited to step into the shoes of Alice, the game's protagonist, and bear witness to the world through her eyes.
The game bravely challenges stigma surrounding mental health and abuse by exploring Alice’s story and seeing the world from her eyes. The game’s audio sets the scene, artistically & emotionally by accompanying players as they navigate snapshots of Alice’s memories and uncover pages from her diary entries through to her late teens.
As Silver Script Games' debut project, "The Quiet Things" is a labor of love and passion from a micro studio dedicated to making a difference. Recognising the power of games as a force for positive change, The Quiet Things aims to be catalyst for conversations often stigmatised by society.
“As a nation, we often shy away from conversations around mental health, such as depression despite the huge number of people who struggle with it.” The studio shared in its Kickstarter page. “It’s ok to talk about these things and we want to be a part of those conversations with the creation of our game.”
Mental health is a topic that deserves our attention, especially in a world where too many suffer in silence. "The Quiet Things" brings these issues to the forefront, offering a unique medium through which to engage with them.
