Friday 22nd September started as any other - the sun was shining on the Surrey Hills around the picturesque town of Guildford and everything seemed normal, at least until an exciting post appeared on Instagram...
Hideo Kojima - known for cult classic The Metal Gear Solid series and more recently, Death Stranding - posted the following image on his social accounts, without comment:
Cue the internet going into a mild frenzy - with many of Kojima's 2 million instagram followers seen to exclaim 'WHAT IS HE DOING IN GUILDFORD?!'. Well, we happen to know the answer (but we've also spent a little time responding to comments on the post to shout about just how important our home town is to the Games Industry 😏)
Hideo was in Guildford to visit award-winning studio Supermassive Games - famous for their Dark Pictures series. Supermassive recently instated Jack Attridge as Creative Director, who made his mark in his first weeks by inviting the Games Ind. Superstar to the studio to visit!
Whilst we have no idea what the collective Games Industry Heroes discussed - and who wouldn't have wanted to be a fly on the wall for that meeting of minds?! - we were over the moon to see such an important member of the game making community in OUR town! Kojima could have come to visit any of the numerous studios in the town, but Supermassive would have been top of our list too!
Come back & visit any time, Hideo! We promise the UK isn't as boring as you may think! 😅
